I LOVE BEING A MOM. .. a heart full of grateful and a big smile:)

Did it!

With 4 kids in tow I busted it to the nursery and probably made some poor choices due to the general excitement/chaos and merry making in the bathroom that ensues every time we go anywhere....HOWEVER...it's done...and even though the well intended know it all lady at the nursery was against all my choices (because of the indoor location) I don't care...if they die they die...in the meantime I'm enjoying the earthy smells around here:)

I bought this font yesterday, it's called Applewood. . .and am now wishing my photoshop skills were half as cool as this font is. . .but they are not. Boo.

Midcentury modern love. . .at Costco?

I have totally neglected my design-ish blogging as of late. . .my decorating motivation got reawakened the other day as I was strolling through Costco and found these lamps for $45 buckers for the both of them!!

Now. .. I'm not usually a Costco furniture shopper. . .I like to forge into the deepest darkest corners of the exchange, or ebay to unearth one of a kind treasures. . .but this was too good to pass up, plus the lines are totally mid-century. . .and $45 bucks? HAD TO. Especially since I'd just finished saving up for the rather expensive task of getting the vintage film poster from Germany framed:) I'm in love with it. . .my mother in law found it in Germany years ago. . .and it's been sitting in our garage waiting for me to save my pennies. . .

My midcentury lamp dreams were set on Lotte lamps ever since a friend introduced me to this designer. . .but $45 bucks says later Lotte. . .I still love you. . .but you'll have to wait.

This picture is from the website www.lottelamps.com , they produce this iconic lamp from the master molds that Gunnar and Lotte Bostlund did since 1957. . .and do a fabulous job too. . .

 Nothing beats vintage originals though:)

Today: On the Gorp front: 500 bars were sent off to the Gimli Film Festival. . .to be given away as samples from the Buy Manitoba booth, an initiative by the Manitoba Food Processors Association. . .whoo hooo!!

I seem to be pretty good at giving bars away. .. time to start concentrating on actually SELLING THEM!

 

Costco smelly salad and GORP Challenge

Today: I'm locking myself in the basement and finishing the outline/plan for the Gorp Challenge:)

On a different note. . .I'm not pregnant, but this amazing salad idea smacked me in the face the other day as I was blankly staring into the fridge wondering what to eat. . .

I call it the Costco Smelly Delight. . .cause you can get everything at Costco and it's salty and cheesy and yum. . .a delight really.

Those feta stuffed hot peppers

Those large green olives also stuffed with hot peppers and GARLIC!

a dollop of jalapeno greek yogurt dip

What to do: Slice the hot peppers and olives, throw them on top of the greens, dollop on some yogurt for some creamy goodness and you are done! It's soooooo delicious, just don't tell any secrets or breath on anyone for a few hours after. . ..IT'S ALL GOOD:)

Oh, and I won't post the picture, cause it's totally embarrassing. . .but. .. ummm. .. anyone know why when attempting to wax my own facial hair, I'm now left with stinging red scabbed over burn marks under my eyebrows. .. ouch?? Of course this happens the day before I had planned to go cold calling retails in Winnipeg for GORP. .. .I'm so not going looking like I swept the sidewalk with my face:(

Dun Dun Da Da!

What? There's a debit machine in my house? What? Yup!

Gorp is officially able to accept payment over the phone, online, and in person! Visa, Mastercard, even Debit? What? I know. .. .I can hardly believe this day has come. . .and I bet the bank is even gladder;) Apparently they like to get paid back? What the what? Was that in the contract? Heh Heh. .. just kidding, no phone calls!

To those of you who signed up for the Gorp Challenge, stay tuned. . I'll be unveiling the official plan in about a week:) Until then. . .do some pushups and start eating clean;) That's what I'll be doing at Folk Fest all week. . .I promise. . .poutine will only be consumed once per day, and only after midnight. . .you know, so it doesn't "count". . .yay. . .kidding again:)

The challenge of the month for me seems to be deciding if I'm going to blast these bars out my back door by myself (and make a decent margin) or hook up with a distributor right away and get some volume going. . .my thought is that if I hook up with a distributor too soon (before I know all the hidden pitfalls and problems/$$$ I'm going to run into) then I could be setting myself up for disaster, and be legally sewn into a contract to boot. . ..this is new territory for me and I'm going slow and feeling very green:(

Today 100 bars went out the door on their way to the North American Agricultural Marketing Officials conference being held next week. I'm actually going to be speaking at the conference. . ..maybe I can sidle up beside one or two of the conference goers and get some marketing tips:) Tonight another 150 bars are being picked up for the athletes participating in the Morden Triathlon, which makes me very happy as I have a love affair with triathlon in general!

As for right now. . .I should be writing my speech. . but little ones are calling and apparently it's 5:39 and I haven't packed for Folk Fest or made supper? Whoops!
